What is Epitalon?
Epitalon is the synthetic tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG). It was developed at the St Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology as a synthetic analogue of epithalamin, a peptide extract of the pineal gland.
Most of the published research comes from Khavinson's group and focuses on telomerase, melatonin rhythms and markers of ageing in animal models and cell cultures.

Khavinson et al. (Bull Exp Biol Med, 2003) reported telomerase activation and telomere elongation in human fibroblast cultures.
Melatonin and circadian rhythm
Studies in aged primates and humans reported effects on pineal melatonin secretion.
Lifespan studies
Rodent studies from the same group reported effects on lifespan and tumour incidence; independent replication is limited.
