What is GHK-Cu?
GHK (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine) was identified by Loren Pickart in 1973 in human plasma. It binds copper(II) with high affinity, and the GHK-Cu complex is the form most studied.
Plasma GHK levels decline with age, from around 200 ng/mL at age 20 to about 80 ng/mL by 60, according to Pickart's work, which led to research on its role in tissue repair. It is also a familiar ingredient in topical cosmetic formulations.
