What is Tesamorelin?
Tesamorelin is the full 44-amino-acid sequence of human GHRH with a trans-3-hexenoyl group added to the N-terminus. That modification protects it from rapid enzymatic breakdown while keeping its activity at the pituitary GHRH receptor, which stimulates the body's own pulsatile growth-hormone release.
In 2010 the US FDA approved tesamorelin (Egrifta) for reducing excess abdominal fat in people with HIV-associated lipodystrophy, one of the few GH-axis peptides with completed phase III trials.
